Lincolnton, Georgia is a city in, and the county seat of, Lincoln County, Georgia. LIncoln County is on the Georgia/South Carolina border and the city and the county were named for General Benjamin Lincoln who served in the Continental Army during the American Revolution. There are many houses and historic districts in the area on the National Register of Historic Places, including “Elijah Clark State Park.” In the 2010 census, the population of Lincolnton was 1,566, but 2016 estimates show that the population has decreased to 1,520 people.
