The town is named for the “Ty Ty Creek” that is near the town, although some sources suggest that it is named for the “Ty Ty trees” that grew alongside the creek. It is in the lower third of the state. In 2010, the census counted the population of Ty Ty at 725 and in 2016 it was estimated that it had grown to 726.
