Very early this morning Deputies from the Sheriffs Office were involved in a motor vehicle chase. The pursuit began mostly on Atlanta Hwy and ended up on Hwy 316. Georgia State Patrol units responded and took over the chase near the Barrow/Oconee line on 316. GSP initiated a PIT maneuver and the vehicle chase ended. GSP is handling the investigation at this time.

The Barrow County Sheriff’s Office received a tip that Ethan Ramey, the suspect in the murder of Kellie Roop on May 10th, was currently in the 4600 block of Braselton Highway in the early morning hours of 05/12. The Barrow County Sheriff’s Office and the Gwinnett County Sheriff’s Office were able to locate Ramey and apprehend him without incident. The Sheriff’s Office is thankful for any and all assistance with capturing this violent offender.

On May 10th, 2018, the Barrow County Sheriff’s Office responded to 1306 Highway 124 in reference to a female who possibly fell on a knife. Upon arrival the deputies noticed a wound to the neck of the victim, who was identified as Kellie Roop, 42, of Buford. Barrow County Fire and Emergency Services arrived on scene and transported Roop to Northeast Georgia Medical Center where she was pronounced dead. The crime scene was secured and the Barrow County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigations Division was notified.

Upon the arrival of the investigators it was determined the victim had been attacked and the suspect was identified as Ethan Andrew Ramey, 29, of Loganville. Warrants have been obtained for Ramey in reference to Felony Murder and Aggravated Assault. The Barrow County Sheriff’s Office is currently searching for Ramey and any information of his whereabouts should be forwarded to Investigator Chris Jackson at 770-307-3080 ext. 4643.

On May 9th, 2018, the Barrow County Sheriff’s Office responded to 1119 Victron Drive in reference to an unconscious person. While enroute to the scene the deputies were advised the individual was laying in the driveway with a knife in his hand. Upon arrival the deputies were able to determine the victim had a gunshot wound on his chest and he was pronounced dead at the scene. The crime scene was secured and the Barrow County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigations Division was notified.

The victim was later identified as Daniel Fowler, 44, of Hoschton and it was determined Fowler was actively arguing with another person in the driveway earlier in the day. There is a primary suspect at this time; however, the Sheriff’s Office is not releasing the name at this time. This is still an active investigation and further information will be released at a later date.

On May 2nd, 2018, the Barrow County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigations Division received information that the body of Montez Watson was buried on the property of 1051 Fleeman Road in Barrow County. Investigators from the Barrow County Sheriff’s Office, the Walton County Sheriff’s Office, and the Georgia Bureau of Investigation arrived at the location and gathered information of the possible location of Watson’s body.

Watson was reported missing in Walton County approximately 3 months prior to Barrow Investigators receiving information on the whereabouts of his body. Investigators did locate a body of a male in a grave on the property. It was exhumed and sent to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation’s crime lab for an autopsy to be performed. Upon the completion of the autopsy, the body was identified as Montez Watson.

Based upon the investigation, warrants were obtained for Michael and Jennifer Huff in reference to concealing the death of another and tampering with evidence. Jennifer Huff was located in North Carolina and taken into custody on May 10th and Michael Huff turned himself in to the Barrow County Detention Center on May 10th as well. Jennifer will be transported to the Barrow County Detention Center and she and Michael will have their first appearances on May 11th.
