Bail and Bondsman

If you wish to bail someone out of Appling County Detention Center, you have to post the bail money to the court. The bail money is the 10% of the total money charged for a criminal offense. Based on the severity of the crime conducted, the court will decide how much money a prisoner should pay as fees. If the bail money is too high or if you are going through financial distress, you should get help from a bail bondsman. A bail bondsman would post the bail money for you. A MUST READ MUST WATCH VIDEO
My thoughts on this are as followed
When Officers first arrived on the scene the weapon that was discharged should have been taken immediately and the person that discharged the firearm should have been charged with discharging a firearm in the city limits because it is against the law to discharge a firearm in the city limits of Douglas. Sargent Stacy Williams was the ranking Officer on scene and when he saw that Officer Derek Young wasn’t doing this Sgt. Williams should have stepped up and took charge.
A lot of things come to mind as I set back and watched the video
(1) The weapon should have been taken and secured in a patrol car first thing, they did respond to a shots fired call after-all (that didn’t happen)
(2)Sgt. Williams should have taken charge when he saw a new Officer wasn’t handling the situation correctly (that didn’t happen)
(3) Two Officers on the scene so they should have split up the parties involved and stayed with them and talked with them to get the true story of what happen (that didn’t happen)
(4) Why Officer Young was questioning the gentleman in the red shirt the man and lady were left alone to go in and out of the home by themselves. Remember Officers have NOT secured the Illegal sawed off shotgun the man admitted to having so it could have been in the home and not in the car as he said ,they could have came out shooting not only the man in red but Officers as well so Sgt. Williams should have been going in the home with them or not let them go in at all (that didn’t happen)
(5) The man in red shirt was left by himself to go in the home not one time but two times without Sgt. Williams going with him and again I point this out because Officer Young was questioning the other two people involved in the shooting and again with Sgt. Williams not knowing if the Illegal sawed off shotgun was in the home and again they don’t know this because the Illegal sawed off shotgun was not taken when they arrived on the scene.
I would like to close in saying this I think Douglas City Manger Terrel Jacobs should let all department heads do their job and part of said job is to discipline their employees accordingly.
When some city’s are sued by an individual the money awarded to the suing parties has to come from somewhere so some city’s have to increase Light Bill,Water Bill,Speeding Tickets,Property Tax and other things to pay off the suing parties. When this happens the tax payers of the city will be the one paying for the lack of responsibility of the person that caused the lawsuit in the first place.
I do not think any Officer should lose their job over this but I do think that punishment should be handed down for the lack of responsibility because of not doing their job as trained. I think the Officers should be written up and be put on their permanent record and also put on a one week suspension without pay by doing this it will make them think about this the next time it happens. Because of the two officers not doing their job as they were trained to do a man is laying in bed on Life Support and the city of Douglas Tax Payers may be looking at a lawsuit.
