Bail and Bondsman

The bail money is what you have to pay to get out of jail. Typically, the bail money is 10% of the total money charged for a crime offense. The court will decide how much money one should pay as charges for whatever crime they have committed. If your bail money is too high or if you are going through financial troubles, you should get help from a bail bondsman. A bail bondsman would charge a minimum of $100 and post the bail money to the court. In some cases, you need to pay around 10-15% of the total bail money.

Newton County man found dead in Morgan County rest area was under investigation by Porterdale Police

A Newton County man being investigated for child molestation was found dead at the westbound rest stop near milepost 108 in Morgan County Saturday morning.
Bernard Sankfield, 54, of Porterdale had been accused of molesting young girls between the age of 12 and 17, according to a report obtained from the Porterdale Police Department, including one victim who is suffering from PTSD as a result of the molestations.
The report says the assaults took place at addresses in Stone Mountain.
During the course of the investigation conducted by the Porterdale Police, Sankfield reportedly told Sgt. Chris Cook on Feb. 12 that “I done some things I shouldn’t have.”
According to the report, Sankfield resigned from his job on Feb. 12 and had last been seen inside the cab of his red 2013 Dodge Ram truck in the McDonald’s parking lot located 10405 Industrial Blvd. in Covington.
A worker at the rest stop noticed Sankfield in the truck with its windows down Saturday morning and deputies responded to conduct a welfare check.
According to Morgan County Chief Deputy Keith Howard, no cause of death was readily apparent when Sankfield’s body was discovered.
Results of an autopsy and toxicology screens are pending but might not be available for several weeks.
